Dear Eighth Grade Parents:
I hope all of you are well as we advance into the ever expanding holiday season. Ms. Ponte and I met with some of our eighth grade parents last week to flesh out how the yearbook and fundraising activities would be run this year. I had given Ms. Ponte an itemized list of expenses for all eighth grade activities, such as yearbook, caps and gowns, our trip to Washington, D.C., and other expenses, which totaled $4500. We intend to raise approximately $2500 of this figure through fundraisers. The remaining balance of $2000 will be divided among the students at $95 each. You may choose to pay half ($47.50) by January 31 and the second half by February 17. Or you may opt to pay in full $95 on or before February 17, 2017. (Any surplus within the eighth grade fund would be directed to St. Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity). With such a system in place, I would not be collecting money at different times of the year for each individual event.
Mrs. O’Connell has generously volunteered to coordinate the production of the eighth grade yearbook. She and I will let you know what materials from home will be required for content. Eighth graders have already been assigned to photograph activities around the school for yearbook use.
Regarding fundraisers, Mrs. Dubuisson will be circulating a sign up genius for the opportunities parents have to get involved with these events, including our pie and stromboli sales, and dances to be held this winter and spring for eighth and seventh graders. Additionally, the school has committed to earmark seven Tag Days this year for the eighth grade general fund. The first of these will be Friday, November 18.
